Are you interested in giving your child a unique educational experience?

Do small classes, individualized attention, and monthly field trips appeal to you and your child? Well, Mountain View Learning Academy is the answer you have been looking for. Mountain View is a K-8 program which blends the traditional classroom experience with the flexibility of independent study. Parents meet with state-certified teachers on a regular basis in order to receive assignments that are to be completed within the home setting. Unlike many "home-school" programs, Mountain View offers on site classes Tuesday through Friday. The classes focus on math, writing, visual & performing arts, physical education, and science standards. Monthly educational field trips are also an important part of the Mountain View program. This program is free and is dedicated to meeting the needs of all types of learners. Diana Whyte, Jennifer Broderick, and Sue Wingo comprise the Mountain View teaching staff. All three teachers are University of California graduates and all have their master's in instruction and curriculum. Combined these teachers have 58 years of teaching experience and hold a wide range of credentials. Mountain View Learning Academy, one of seven schools within the Alpine Union School District, is located at 8770 Harbison Canyon Road on the campus of Shadow Hills School. NEW GARDEN PROJECT

"Great Plans" are in the workings for a Garden area behind Classrooms 30, 31 and 32.We are very excited to break ground on the project, which will provide a beautiful outdoor learning opportunity for our students. Ed Manning of Harbison Canyon has graciously volunteered his time and construction talents to make raised planter beds. We will be creating pathways for walking through the native plants, flowers and vegetable gardens. You will be seeing the "CHANGES" very soon!

INCREDIBLE COOKS

The fourth through eighth graders are becoming amazing cooks! Every Friday they can be found chopping, measuring, mixing, and most importantly eating wonderful food creations. They have made trifles, burritos, and fruit kabobs. These creations are not only delicious but also nutritious.

Each student is creating their own recipe inventory and will be able to replicate these recipes at home for you! Bon appetite .
